NFHell Update 2

While the gf and I were abroad this last week our neighbour received a visit from the police.

We don’t know why, but have been told that three police cars arrived in the wee hours of Wednesday morning and her door was smashed open while she called out “I’m a good girl, I’m a good girl!”.
My questions over her mental health and suitability as a parent are turning into answers.
And now she’s pregnant again, and apparently lying to her (new) bf about how far gone she is.

I leave you to make your own opinions.

If all things go to plan, there’s just one fortnight to go as of Tuesday…

NFHell Update

I’ve been told that actual bailiffs will be coming, escorted by the police, at the end of next month.
While this isn’t within the “few weeks time” they said recently, it is a date.

I am not currently expecting her to be there that day – she’s been through all this before, and doesn’t have any interest in the property anyway. I also think recent events (which I won’t detail here) may have sobered her up, in more ways than one.
She seems to be at peace with the situation.

I on the other hand am not going to be able to relax until I see a new door on that house. Even after that I won’t be happy until we actually move – she has had such venom, and has made considerable threats, and cannot be considered in any way stable.

Then again, I shouldn’t let her affect my life any more than it has already…

Christmas Is Coming (Apparently)

Well, I’ve received my first Christmas catalogue.

I’m unwilling to accept even the arrival of the autumn, let alone winter. (Maybe it’s global warming…)

To be fair, the RNLI catalogue wasn’t purely Christmassy, but it does have ‘snowy morning’ 1000-piece puzzles and mulled wine whisk sets.

Is it too early to even mention the ‘holiday season‘?
Or is there harm in it? Does it devalue ‘the meaning of Christmas’, making it more and more about materialism?

Are ‘Seasonal Products’ made available ahead of time for those who can’t afford it any other way? Or are those people simply lacking in will power, or the ability to simply save money?

UPDATE: I have since received the actual Christmas catalogue from the RNLI, nearly 3 month early!

NFHell 11

Friday – Further verbal abuse and threats from her, all in front of the local kids (all pre-teens).
She even said* that I had reported her noise making because I was jealous I wasn’t invited to the parties! (So far from the truth it’s disturbing.)
She clearly still thinks that it was just me who reported the continued nuisance, and that ‘grassing’ is a bad thing.

Saturday – She reportedly tried to encourage said kids to smash my windows and front door (fortunately they refused, and told their parents).
Kid asks this morning if she had tried herself overnight – I assume she claimed that she was planning on doing so.

I’ll be calling the police tomorrow morning to make sure there’s an official record of this, just in case she does try. I doubt she’d get through the windows (DG) but she could well cause damage.

(*- that’s too polite a word)

UPDATE: The police lady on the phone advised me that it’s perfectly okay to call at the time of every incident, to build up a case against her if it’s ever needed.

N F Hell X

Although her eviction notice ran out 3 weeks ago, our neighbour is still using the house and generally being a nuisance.

The management co have said (again) that they’re waiting for a court date. Until that date has come and gone they have no rights to physically move her. A fact she seems to know all too well.

Fortunately, she has been living at her “Nan’s” and so she hasn’t been around much.
However, the last two nights’ calm has been punctuated by her death-rattle of a laugh and, of course, various shouting and banging noises etc.

I did have an interesting dream, which I believed for a blissful moment yesterday morning, in which her house was stormed by at least 30 police in riot gear.

Cars Behaving Badly (Site Proposal)

I have been bouncing an idea around my head (and off a couple of other people’s) and would like to open it up to your thoughts, reactions and suggestions.

Although I drive very little (I work at home), I see a lot of bad driving. A lot of the time it’s simply inconsiderate, sometimes it’s downright rude, other times it’s downright dangerous.
I have also seen many vehicles in dangerous physical conditions, and sometimes with illegal modifications.

Instead of whinging to the gf, I figured it would be much more useful to make a note of these things.
Making these notes could be useful in discovering who is to blame, and what could be done to prevent the problems in the future.

Some of you may be thinking ‘Goody Two-Shoes‘ etc, but there are too many people who complain about something and then do nothing to make it better. (Think Honda advert – Hate Something, Change Something, Make Something Betterrrr!)

The features I’ve considered for the site include:

  • Note of the:
    • Crime / Misdeed / etc
    • Vehicle Make & Model
    • Vehicle Registration
    • Driver description
      • Age / Sex
    • Location
      • Using Google Maps API
    • Rating of the ‘crime’
      • which would also show which crimes annoy us the most

All Web2.0′ified. All written in swanky OO PHP etc etc.
It would be anonymous, but limited to one report per Reg per IP per day. (Or something)

So, what are your reactions? Would you be concerned (for me) about litigation over slander etc? Would you submit reports? Would the police (or other authorities) be interested?

Net Neutrality Threatened

Update: As reported by the BBC:

“US politicians have rejected attempts to enshrine the principle of net neutrality in legislation.”

Google themselves are asking for people to petition against a bill going through US courts:

In the next few days, the House of Representatives is going to vote on a bill that would fundamentally alter the Internet. That bill, and one that may come up for a key vote in the Senate in the next few weeks, would give the big phone and cable companies the power to pick and choose what you will be able to see and do on the Internet.

Today the Internet is an information highway where anybody – no matter how large or small, how traditional or unconventional – has equal access. But the phone and cable monopolies, who control almost all Internet access, want the power to choose who gets access to high-speed lanes and whose content gets seen first and fastest. They want to build a two-tiered system and block the on-ramps for those who can’t pay.

Hopefully, the proposal won’t go anywhere, but if it does it threatens to have wide reaching impacts including over this side of the pond.

If it does, then what sort of prices are going to be charged, and how will content be rated. Will individual sites have to lobby to be included in the high priority lanes, will they have to pay?
ISPs are already the winners on the ‘net, shouldn’t we be looking for ways to increase availability to remote users rather than limited those who are already limited?

Neighbour From Hell Part 9 (Updated Sun 3PM)

Last night, at about 11, she threw eggs at our front door and windows.

The theory is that she just got up and had received notice of her court-date.
Not particularly imaginative, nor adult.

UPDATE (Sun 3pm): I was sweeping up the pavement outside my house and ‘she’ comes up to me and starts, as usual, with ‘Are you Stu?’
Since I’m still not Stu, and that I’m trying not to let her affect my life, I ignored her entirely.
She carries on trying to talk to me and I keep ignoring her, and she starts trying to insult me.
Insults of: ‘student’ (not true, not an insult); ‘grass’ (not an insult) and others went ignored, until other people on the street shouted back at her.

She then comes up to me and asks me to touch her, Jamaican greeting style, and I say ‘no’.
She asks me to again, and I say that I don’t want to, she asks why, blah blah blah.
The gf comes out to call me inside, which makes sense so I do.

Once we’re inside the other neighbours continue shouting at her, with her screeching back.
Choice snippets:

  • “Shut up ya scag-’ead!”
  • “So I’m a heroine addict, so what?”
  • “I’ve got cancer, only got 12 months left.” (Doubt it)

Neighbour From Hell Part 8

Last night she started hammering (nails into the party wall and others) at about 2345. It went on for at least half an hour.
She was also chatting, shouting all night. When came in at about 2 she shouted at her, calling her a “dirty stop-out”.
All the ingredients for a perfect night’s sleep. All finished at about 0800, an hour after we got up.

UPDATE 0900: I just spoke to the management company and was told that they are now waiting for a court-date. They expect that will come in about 3 or 4 weeks. So a slightly different story than we were given before, but the lady I spoke to seemed genuine and sympathetic.
